Alpha Estate Xinomavro 2012

Alpha Estate is located in the heart of the Amyndeon, a wine region in the Northwest of Greece. Moderate temperatures and heavy winter rains create ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen. Alpha Estate is presided over by Greek winemaker Angelo Iatridis.

Iatridis’ Alpha Estate Xinomavro 2012 is 100% Xinomavro with purple red color. The bouquet is of leather and spices (vanilla, pepper, clove), the company says, with hints of ripe blackberry. Full mouth, rounded tannins, balanced acidity and wood tones follow. The finish has a quince aroma.

Alpha Estate Xinomavro 2012 is 13.5% ABV, with 5,000 cases produced. Aging was 12 months in French oak casks and 12 months in bottle. The suggested retail price is $22 per 750-ml. bottle.
