In Mississippi, the last state in the union to allow the sale of beverage alcohol within its borders (in 1966), 45% of all counties remain dry to this day. Things considered a colorful part of history by many — bootlegging and moonshine — still exist in Mississippi (see sidebar), but they do so alongside modern concerns, such as the manufacture of fake IDs with today’s sophisticated computer equipment.
