Frankenwein Featured at Prowein Seminars

CHICAGO, IL (Feb 18, 2014) – The name will certainly catch the attention of Americans, but Frankenwein-wine produced in the Franconia region of Germany- is getting noticed.  Traditionally made with the Silvaner grape and presented in an elliptically shaped bottle known as “Bocksbeutel”, Frankenwein will be just one of a broad range of seminars at next month’s ProWein, International Trade Fair Wines and Spirits, taking place in Düsseldorf Germany, March 23-25, 2014.

According to Michael Degen, Executive Director Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and responsible for ProWein, “We have a schedule of over 300 seminars this year, and the best part is that they’re presented on the show floor so that attendees can really maximize their time networking and learning about the full scope of wines available from around the world.”

Some other seminars that will be of interest to American attendees include one on Turkish Wine. It is another region that’s generating buzz in the business with its indigenous varieties Kalecik Karasi (Kah-lay’-gick Kah-rah’-see) and Narince (Nah-ringe’-eh) both of which will be featured in a special seminar presented by some of the leading MW’s and sommeliers in the world.

From more familiar places, Wines of Chile, Argentina and South Africa will again join forces as “The Beautiful South” and present a tasting of Southern Hemisphere wines scoring 90 points or better, led by Caro Mauer MW.

Most seminars will be presented multiple times throughout the event, giving delegates flexible options in planning their schedules. The complete schedule of events is available online at www.prowein.com/events.

Nearly 45,000 visitors from around the world will be in Düsseldorf to see what’s on offer from 4,700 exhibitors from around 50 countries at ProWein 2014, the 20th anniversary of the event.
