Freixenet is releasing a new line of Spanish wines, called Mia, made by winemaker Gloria Collell, who says the lineup highlights high-quality value-priced wines made from Spanish grapes. The easy-to-drink wines, featuring noticeable fruit, are balanced with good acidity. The line includes Mia White (Blanco), made from a blend of Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada; Mia Rose (Rosado), balanced and not too sweet and made from 100% Bobal grapes; Mia Red, made from 100% Tempranillo, with soft tannins and lots of fruit; and two sparkling wines, Mia Moscato, made from Muscatel grapes, with freshness and good acidity; and Mia Moscato Rose, redolent of raspberries. The wines are low in alcohol (7% for the Moscatos) and are $9.99 to $10.99 suggested retail for a 750 ml bottle.
