Spratt to Chair Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Commission

Christine Spratt, General Manager and Vice-President of Golden Eagle Distributing in Mount Pleasant, was elected Chairperson of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Commission on June 23, 2020.

She became Chairperson effective July 1, 2020, and will serve in the position for one year.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead this important commission,” Spratt says. “Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the alcoholic beverages industry, the work of the Commission and the Alcoholic Beverages Division to properly balance business opportunities with the protection of public health, safety and welfare will be vital.”

The commission partners with the ABD administrator to provide insight and advice regarding public policy and business decisions. Commissioners are appointed by the governor and must be approved by the Iowa Senate. Commissioners serve five-year terms with the possibility of being reappointed for a second, five-year term.

Spratt currently resides in Burlington with her husband, Kent, and daughter, Lainey.

Golden Eagle Distributing provides beer distribution services to retailers in southeastern Iowa, northeastern Missouri, and western Illinois.

Spratt was appointed to the commission by former Governor Terry E. Branstad and began her first term on May 1, 2017. She will be eligible for a second five-year term.
