By a vote of 48-0, Bancroft entrepreneur Sara Winkleman was confirmed by the Iowa Senate on April 18, 2022, to her first term on the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Commission. Her five-year term will begin on May 1, 2022.
“I’m very honored to be given this opportunity to serve the people of Iowa on the Alcoholic Beverages Commission,” Winkleman said. “I look forward to the next five years working with the other commissioners on matters related to distribution, manufacturing, sales of alcohol, and the health and safety of Iowans.”
The Alcoholic Beverages Commission is composed of five members chosen on the basis of managerial ability and experience as business executives. The commission partners with the administrator of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division to provide insight and advice regarding public policy and business decisions.
Winkleman is the founder and owner of S & B Farms Distillery in Bancroft, IA. She was named 2019 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by America’s Small Business Development Center – Iowa. She is also involved with veteran causes and her own nonprofit, Beyond the Still. She resides in Bancroft with her husband, Brian, and two children.
