A routine trip to a NH Liquor & Wine Outlet storehas yielded one lucky patron a custom classic truck.

Last summer, Helen Hescock, 72, of Enosburg Falls, Vermont, visited the NH Liquor & Wine Outlet at the Hooksett Welcome Center on Interstate 93 Southbound as she often does when traveling through New Hampshire. In addition to picking up spiced rum, she noticed a Sailor Jerry display with a Custom Sailor Jerry 1953 Ford 100 Pickup. She entered her name in the promotion.

“I saw the cute truck and said, why don’t I try Sailor Jerry?” said Hescock, a 27-year retired school bus driver.

She ended up getting much more than that.

On Friday, January 30, representatives from the NH Liquor Commission and Sailor Jerry Rum handed her and her husband David the keys to the custom pickup, as Hescock was named the winner of the NH Liquor & Wine Outlets / Sailor Jerry Rum Summer Promotion.

“It should be a lot of fun cruising around,” Hescock said. “I’ve had a number of people offer to buy the truck, but I want to drive it around myself. I drove five-speed, so this is going to be perfect.”

The Sailor Jerry Rum Summer Promotion — a collaboration between NHLC, Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire and William Grant & Sons — generated 14,000 entries this year

“NHLC is proud to collaborate with Sailor Jerry Rum once again this year to offer this unique and exclusive opportunity to our customers, and we are pleased to see a loyal customer like Helen be rewarded with this vintage 1953 Sailor Jerry Truck,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph W. Mollica.

Last year, Long Island resident and Jeep enthusiast Eric Christensen became the first-ever winner of the NH Liquor & Wine Outlets / Sailor Jerry Rum Summer Promotion, when he took home a Custom Sailor Jerry 1953 Jeep Willys Overland Wagon. Entries in this year’s giveaway were accepted through January 4.
