This Spring, two of Italy’s leading wineries will release their first rosé wines – Mezzacorona from Trento, and Sicily’s Stemmari – each reflecting native varietals and terroir.
MEZZACORONA ROSÉ 2014
100% Lagrein; 12% ABV; $8.99 SRP
Light violet-light ruby red in color, Mezzacorona’s Rosé offers an aroma of wild red berries with floral notes of roses and geranium. Its flavor profile is a balance between the fresh acidity that comes from the surrounding mountains and the full mouthfeel typical of the regional climate. This wine is ideal as an aperitif as well as a match to Italian hors d’oeuvres, raw fish, pasta with light ragu, grilled fish, and white meats.
STEMMARI ROSÉ 2014
100% Nero d’Avola; 12% ABV; $9.99 SRP
Intense violet with medium ruby red in color, Stemmari’s Rosé offers aromas of wild strawberry typical of Nero d’Avola, with complexity of cherry, gooseberry and red currant. The flavor profile is warm and delicate, striking a balance between freshness and minerality. Pair this wine with appetizers as well as light vegetables, fried fish, fish cooked in oven, white meat dishes and grilled fish.
As with all Mezzacorona and Stemmari wines, these rosés are produced using the 100% sustainable winemaking practices that have earned each winery Eco-Management and Audit Scheme certification. Mezzacorona and Stemmari’s Rosé wines will be available nationwide.
